Kaiwaikawe Wind Farm Project
Tararua Wind Power Ltd. (Mercury Energy) is developing the Kaiwaikawe Wind Farm located at Pāmu Farms, Omamari Station, approximately 20 km northwest of Dargaville. The site is positioned just east of SH12 and a few kilometres from the Tasman Sea. The Southern Section is accessed via Babylon Coast Road.
Higgins is the main contractor, and Midgley Developments has been awarded the construction works for the Southern Package, including access roads, turbine hardstands, and turbine foundation excavation and backfilling. Our scope includes 350,000 m³ of bulk earthworks, drainage works, and 6 km of roading and pavement construction.
The wind farm consists of twelve (12) turbines, each with a capacity of 6.4 MW, and Midgley has been awarded construction responsibilities for five (5) turbines.
